***OKAY, SLIGHTLY NEW FORMAT, SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHICH MOVIES CERTAIN HORROR CELEBS ARE FROM, SO I AM GOING TO START PUTTING A LITTLE INFO NEXT TO THEIR NAMES. BASICALLY WHAT THEY ARE MOST FAMOUS FOR.***

August 2005 Horrorfind Weekend

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!  What a wonderful time we had this year!!  First of all, a few days before the con, I was beyond thrilled to learn that Gaylen Ross would be attending!!!  I was sooo excited about that.

Mom and I arrived at the hotel Friday super early (well, super early for us, lol, around 2pm) to attempt early check-in.  Of course that wasn't happening, but ah well.  We did get to check in like around 3:30 so it was all good. :)

We didn't go to the lines until a little after 4, because I didn't feel like using my standing-in-line energy so early into the con, lol.  We got right in and immediately went to the dealer's rooms as the celeb room wasn't open yet.  We went to the t-shirt counter and I finally got to see and chat with my long lost friend and brilliant artist, Chad Savage.  Years ago when he lived in my area, I commissioned him to do this awesome portrait of me for my then-boyfriend-now-husband, Nathan :

We first went to the students of
Tom Savini's FX school table, and mom got a cool voodoo head, then I got a mini Teddy Scare for Nathan, and we looked around a little more before heading up to the celeb room.

The first person I made a beeline for was Gaylen Ross.  She was great!  She was happy to see female fans, and talked with us for a little while.  If that had been my only meeting at the con, I would have been happy, but everything got even better.  She made a lot of references to shopping, and I had been previously warned not to mention Madman to her even though I wanted to, but I didn't.  That kinda sucks because that is an old favorite that Mom and I used to watch when I was little, but I wasn't going to risk a bad experience.  I also ended up getting one of the cool shopping bags she had at the table. :)  She said she hasn't been back to the mall because she doesn't want to see all the changes.  After that, she was one of the few celebs that every time we walked by her table she would shout out a "Hi!" to us, which was awesome!  (I am such a loser, lol, but I love it!!)  Another thing I noticed different this year was most of the celebs immediately introduced themselves to us and asked our names and shook hands and asked how our weekend was going, etc., which was great.  Anyway, Gaylen let me videotape her a little bit and we went to the next celeb.

FELISSA ROSE!!  She could not have been any more kind and talkative and warm, it was amazing.  As soon as she found out we were mother-daughter, she was so excited and we talked for awhile.  This was another movie that was an extreme favorite of ours when I was little, and we were sooo thrilled!!  She explained that her mother was at the con as well, and also her newborn beautiful daughter, which she brought out later.  She asked us all sorts of questions (a celeb asked US question, lol) about our backgrounds and such, and did fun stuff for the camcorder, and finally, of course upon my request, made "the face" for me when we had our picture taken.  As well as Gaylen, she too, would call us out by name whenever we passed by her.

We then went by the Ladies of the Evil Dead table.  Only Betsy and Sarah were there, as Ellen and Hal were having trouble getting in that night due to airline strikes.  They were a riot, though, I had them sign a copy of Evil Dead Companion for our friend Az because he couldn't be there, due to the fact that he was watching Mom's house while we were gone.  They did a personal message to him via my camcorder and they were hysterical!  I then told them I wanted them to sign a pic for me, and when Betsy asked how I spell that, I said "M-E" (LOL, lame!!!!) and they laughed and said I should sitting back there with them, lol!  Again, those two would call us out whenever we passed by, most of the lady celebrities at this year's con were so great!!

Then we met John Kassir, who was beyond cool!!  He did the Cryptkeeper for the cam and  kept us laughing so much!!  We then met Eugene "Big Daddy" Clark, and he was very nice.  After that was Ashley Laurence, and she was very nice, but a couple of Comic Book Guys pushed me aside to get close to her, lol, so the time was short with her.  Eileen Dietz was cool, although she remarked so much about not having to personalize stuff so we could sell stuff on ebay, I was getting a teensy uncomfortable.  She had these cool cans of Captain Howdy Split Pea Soup, so I had to get that, lol.  Sid Haig was amazing to meet, lol, he was sooo intimidating but it was real cool, lol!!  We then met Russ Streiner, and he was so awesome, we chatted with him for a long time, and of course he did "They're coming to get you, Courtney" for my cam.  Jeffrey Combs was great, very quiet, but very nice too.

We were pretty tired, so we didn't really head back to the celeb room until the next day.  The first thing we did was get in line for Angus Scrimm and Don Coscarelli.  We noticed along the way, that the Bruce Campbell line next to us was the biggest line we had ever seen for anyone, it was massive!!!  While in line to meet Angus and Don, Bruce came out and he was so funny!  His hair was a bit longer, and he looked great!  We met Don first, and he really was just about the nicest, most sweetest celeb I have ever met!  After that, was Angus (one of the biggest thrills of my life), and he was very gracious and very soft spoken, however he did make his trademark face and "Booooyyyy!!" for the cam!!

We then hit the Evil Dead table to finish up the Evil Dead Companion for Az with Ellen Sandweiss and Hal DelrichEllen did a message to Az for the cam, and then we went to Ken Foree's table, and he was sweet as usual.  We then returned to Felissa's table so Mom could get a pic, and Felissa again did "The Face" this time for my cam in case the pic didn't come out, lol.  We went to Tom Sullivan's Evil Dead Museum, and it was incredible, so cool to look at everything!!  He was really nice!!  Finally, I said I wouldn't but I DID end up stopping by Tom Savini's table, lol, this time I only got the David Letterman video :).
