***OKAY,
SLIGHTLY NEW FORMAT, SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING THAT THEY
DO NOT KNOW WHICH MOVIES CERTAIN HORROR CELEBS ARE FROM, SO I AM
GOING TO START PUTTING A LITTLE INFO NEXT TO THEIR NAMES.
BASICALLY WHAT THEY ARE MOST FAMOUS FOR.***
August
2002 Horrorfind Weekend
What
can I say, but another hit!! Although not as comfortable as last
year's Horrorfind, still this was an incredible show! The reason
for the discomfort is that there were so many big names to be
there Friday, that there were SWARMS of people compared to last
year's opening day. I am elated, however that Horrorfind was once
again able to be such a big hit and bring a big crowd, it is
really just my selfishness! The line to get in was immense, and
although it bothered some, we really weren't upset by it. I was
just so happy to be there and happy that so many others were
there. While standing in line, my first thrill was when Tom
Savini passed by me and made note of my "Savini" shirt
saying, "That's my shirt!" I need a life. Hahaha! I
don't care, it was still a thrilling moment for me! Although
lines for long for The Evil Dead cast, Linda Blair, and Doug
Bradley, it was still bearable. It was at the most maybe a half
hour wait to meet these people. We immediately, upon entering the
convention, got into line for the Ladies of Evil Dead and Hal
Delrich (Scotty, Evil Dead). I would say that was about a half
hour wait, but definitely worth it. When we reached them they
were just sooo funny and nice! They just seem like they are
having so much fun and are blown away by how many people want to
meet them! Betsy (Linda) did the evil little girl laugh for my
video camera. They also had THE most beautiful selection of
pictures offered. Next in line was Hal Delrich. He was very funny
and very nice. I kinda wished he was like right with the girls, I
mean he was next to them, but I think they should kind have all
been together, as a group. We then met Kyra Schon (Karen Cooper,
Night of the Living Dead) and spent a little while at the table.
Her and her assistant talked with us and we had so much fun! Her
assistant commented on how it was amazing that my mother and I
were so close in sharing our interests. And she also had a lot of
neat things for sale like an actual trowel! And of course there
were the jokes about me killing my mother with the trowel. We
then got into line for Doug Bradley (Pinhead, Hellraiser),
because I feared the line would just get too big, and I still
wasn't sure where Linda Blair (Regan, The Exorcist) was. While in
line for Doug, I did spot where Linda was right to the left of
us, and got a little worried that we would be in line too long to
be able to get in line for Linda, as there was a guy with Doug
Bradley for a half an hour having Doug sign stuff. A lot of
people in line were mad, but nobody really said anything. I mean
this guy had like a backpack and box filled with stuff for Doug
to sign, and it literally was a half hour. I was a little nervous
meeting Doug, because I had always heard mixed things about
meeting him. I had heard that he was cold and quiet. Well, he's
British and very reserved, and I guess that can get mistaken for
coldness, but I did not feel like he was being cold to me. He was
a gentleman, and with the children in line, he was wonderful! He
smiled really big with them and talked very animated with them.
The kids in line were very happy. I don't think anyone had a
problem with Doug. We then immediately got into line for Linda
Blair. That only took about 20 minutes. She was very friendly and
smiley, and so tiny!!!!! She happily stepped out from behind the
table to pose with people, and although very professional, made
you feel welcome. The rest of the evening was a mixture of fun. I
went to Ken Foree's (Dawn of the Dead) table, and finally he had
a picture available from Leatherface that I could get from him.
Just like before, he was so incredibly nice! His wife was with
him, and she was just incredible as well. They both talked with
us for a little bit, and then we headed to the Tom Savini table,
where I SPENT MOST OF MY MONEY!!! I can't help it! He always has
the most incredible stuff! I got some videos that I was going to
buy anyway elsewhere, and a Day of the Dead soundtrack, and we
had our picture taken. It's no secret, that I can't stand the
previous picture of us taken together! I look like a buffoon, and
he looks like he's insane! This picture came out perfect, so I am
happy, and my cat, Savini, will be happy too. We then spent some
time at Reggie Bannister's (Phantasm) table, where he made
another fun video with me, and we chatted about all sorts of
stuff. He is just so open and friendly, and loves to talk to
people. The last person we met was Brinke Stevens. Now this is
bizarre...when I had my picture taken with her last year, our
faces turned out like completely white, you couldn't see any of
our facial features. So, I had another pic taken with her, and
guess what? It just did not come out! There were pictures before
and after my picture taken with her, and this one just does not
exist! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?!?!? Allright, I will try one more
time when I meet her next, but this is just to bizarre. I did
find on the negative where the picture was supposed to be, but it
just looks like me in the picture. Spooky, huh? Hahahaha!
We didn't make it the next day because we had to spend time with
our family and my time was limited in getting back to Syracuse.
So, regrettably, we weren't able to meet Dee Wallace or see Bruce
again, but next time!
